Kimmy Noonen

Kimmy Noonen is an artist, podcaster, mother and pseudo-scientist whose work deals with ideas of healing, transformation, identity, and culture. Just as the physical world has been developed by a long history of process, chance, relationships, and accumulating layers, Noonen uses these principles to imagine what an inner emotional, mental, and spiritual landscape might look like. She creates abstracted “maps” that ask questions about the ongoing journey of becoming.

Noonen earned an MFA from University of Chicago. Exhibitions highlights include Chicago’s Corner Gallery, Terrain Biennial, Hyde Park Art Center, Smart Museum, Positive Space Studios, Dank Haus German Cultural Center as well as Schnormeier Gallery (Mt Vernon, Ohio), Draewell Gallery (Elgin, IL) and Supermarket Independent Art Fair (Stockholm, Sweden). Noonen has received a Chicago Arts Assistance (CAAP) Grant, taught at Judson University, owned a commercial photography business, established a support community for creatives in the church, hosts Kimmy Not Kim Podcast about life in the arts, and organizes an annual art market (Cheers to Art). Noonen spends most of her time with her husband and two children at their home on the Northwest side of Chicago.
