CPS Lives NFP (DBA Artists in Public Schools) acknowledges support from Illinois Arts Council

Artists in Public Schools is proud to announce that we were the recipients of a 2025 grant from the Illinois Arts Council. This generous grant provided support for seven of our twenty artist residencies in the public schools including Park West Elementary, Lincoln Park High School, and Ruiz Elementary! These residencies provided students with hands-on collaborative experiences with local artists, such as photographic weaving, totem sculptures, and cyanotypes. This grant also played an important role in  continuing our artist critiques in collaboration with Filter Photo, allowing artists across the city to learn about the work being done in our public schools and inspire one another. Thank you to the Illinois Arts Council for helping us continue to make an impact on artists, students, and schools!

Artists in Public Schools creates artist residencies in Chicago Public Schools (CPS), providing expansive art making experiences for students, educators, and professional Chicago-based artists. Working together with a collaborative, community-focused mindset, we celebrate and widely share the unique stories of CPS students and schools through art and creativity. When the arts and aesthetics are integrated into education, work, and life, we strengthen our capacity to learn. Creating something is at the core of learning.
